The UN headquarters, Palais des Nations, in central Geneva is currently undergoing substantial renovations. After a process that started several years ago, Swedish furniture company Swedese has been selected as partner and supplier of a large part of the furniture and interior decoration for the new buildings. As of March 2020, a framework agreement regarding lounge furniture for offices and meeting spaces is in place, making Swedese a proud supplier for the UN.
Since 1945, Swedese designs and manufactures furniture for private homes and public spaces, at their sites in the villages of Vaggeryd and Äng in the region of Småland in the southern part of Sweden. Swedese's focus on modern work environments and meeting places, along with their ability to offer customized solutions, form the basis for the decision made by the UN organization. The fact that the UN and Swedese share values on the significant issues of sustainability and gender equality has also contributed strongly to the UN selecting Swedese as a partner.
"It has been an interesting and demanding process, and we are of course very proud to be selected as suppliers of interior decoration for the UN. The team effort has been fantastic"
Our staff has shown perseverance and great competence, and getting the opportunity to deliver our products to this prestigious project is an incredible reward, Sonnie Byrling concludes.
