Swedese celebrates 80 years with the Anniversary Edition

"We'll get started and see how it goes," said Yngve Ekström when he, together with his brother Jerker, founded Swedese in 1945.

Eighty years later, Swedese continues to create sophisticated simplicity in the same factory in Småland that the Ekström brothers moved into during the 1950s - always with sustainability and quality at the forefront.

For our 80th anniversary, we are releasing a limited edition of Yngve Ekström’s masterpiece, Lamino, made with the most Swedish materials imaginable: pine wood from Dalarna and sheepskin from free-range Swedish sheep.

For the first time, pinewood is pressed and bent into the iconic curve that Yngve spent years perfecting. The seat is upholstered with soft sheepskin. The result is a beloved classic with beautiful contrasts, where the dark sheepskin meets light, white-pigmented pinewood.

Our deep respect for Yngve Ekström and his vision remains unwavering. Above all, we strive to preserve his curiosity about the world, culture, and the future. That is the legacy we aim to carry forward—the essence that allows us to have 80 years of experience while remaining young at heart.

The Lamino Anniversary Edition will be available starting January 2, 2025, through our online store and select retailers (Swedish market only). Only 80 sets, each including both the easy chair and matching footstool, will be produced.
